At the end of January, we went finally exchanged contracts to move house and we had about 2.5 weeks, Ron immediately arranged for broadband to be installed in the new house. Unfortunately because we wanted to stay with Bulldog as our supplier and they have to go through BT to get the line installed it took 60 days. Can you believe it, this utterly ridiculous, questions about the restrictive practice of BT spring to mind. It was very difficult getting e-mail by dial up. Remember modems? Thank goodness technology moves on. And there was no way we could upload podcasts without broadband so we had to take an enforced break. So apologies, but we are back now and hope to do a regularly weekly show as before, despite being very busy working on the new house. We are at the moment putting in a new bathroom and half the kitchen has been ripped out. At the moment the best part of being in the new house is that we now have two new kittens. They are British blues and they provide us hours of entertainment.

Last night was the Northampton social and it was nice to meet both old and new faces. We had a great evening. Ron did receive comments about the site particularly the chatroom and there are problems with the login which needs to be resolved by the software designers, so it’s out of our hands at the moment unfortunately. We are trying to integrate the prurient social network Prutube with the prurient contact section, this seem to be giving our programmer some challenges but we hope to get it sorted soon. Hopefully once this is resolved traffic to the chat room will pick up again. It was suggested that we have quizzes and other evenings using the chatroom so watch this space.

One of the Worst Ones REL. DATE MAY 29 2007 Nathan Wiley

==== Recording -8 ==== @ Xena (talks about)

Well since we have been off the air there have been two programmes no less on the TV in recent weeks about the Size 0 debate

The first one was call Super slim me and a journalist? Did an experience where she went on a rigorous diet and exercise regime to slim down from a normal size 10 to try and get to size 4 which is the same as the US size 0

Then there was Louise Redkamp doing more or less the same thing. Over the course of a month she dieted down from a size 8 to get to a size 4 to get in a Zero size dress she had bought in LA. She interviewed Denise Van Outen who is out in LA, who told her than she was told by her agent that she needed to loose weight to get work. It seems that the fashion industry is the real villains in this. They insist their clothes look better on skeletal frames. Two fashion models have recently died because of eating disorders.

Louise had her photograph taken before and after the diet and although the photographer said she looked better for the photographs thinner, she said she felt rotten. So is the Camera the other villain? I was once told that the camera adds 10 pounds. But the camera has been around a long time now, much longer than this obsession to be stick thin?

The thing that struck me was that both of them felt tied, sick, and grumpy because their bodies were getting so few calories and they were having to expend so much energy training. Why would you want to live like this? asked Louise. Why indeed, but equally anyone trying to carry on a normal life, working, looking after family etc would not be able to function for long. So unless you have the luxury of not have to do anything but concentrate on this and only this, it is thankfully not a realistic option for most of us.

After watching this I then saw the evening news and they had an article of a woman who at 42 st is also having serious health issues. She has not moved for 18 months. Which begs the question who is giving her food, if she can’t walk to the refrigerator then surely her family has control over what she eats? There has since been other programmes Half Ton Hospital with a hospital in New York treating seriously obese patients. Again they are supposed to be on 1500 calories a day but were flouting the programme by getting takeways delivered. Again if these people refuse to follow the hospital programme and I assume they are voluntary patients after all, why does the hospital not insist they leave?

But as British scientists have just discovered, what we have all long suspected, that some people have an now identifiable gene which gives them a predisposition to obesity, we can all just turn around and say, its not my fault I’m fat, its my genes! Because our time is more limited with all the work we are doing on the house, we would love to hear from you if you would like to contribute any articles to the podcast. If you want to record your article you can call the prurient voicemail no. Which is 0779 213 2592 and record it. If you are shy but has an article you would like to contribute you can e-mail me at Xena@ prurient. Org. uk and I will read it out you.
